Why do hands get tired during surgery?

As a gloved had moves, predominantly changing shape across the palm and knuckles, there is continual stretching of the glove material against the hand and skin. The stretching on the gloves can consume a lot of hand muscle energy, especially true if the gloves are not properly shaped to the contours of the hand and/or made from poor quality materials. Overtime the hands become stressed having to work against the gloves, leading to fatigue and increased susceptibility to RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury)

It became clear to Lucenxia® that existing gloves were not optimally designed to fit the hand. We wanted to know how a hand changed shape as it flexed and manipulated instruments. ln addition, we needed to better understand the normal size and shape of hands especially across the palm and length of fingers. For this we adapted emerging 3D scanning technologies to measure accurately hand shapes and sizes of actual surgeons.

Using our study findings, Finessis® gloves are manufactured to conform more closely to surgeons' hands compared to any other. Conformance of the glove materials. In conjunction with good elastic materials used, very little force is needed to stretch and perform Finessis® gloves. The outcome is, Finessis® gloves significantly reduce the overall stresses on the hands and fingers compared to other gloves.
